B. Bluementhal & Co. - Started in 1877, most of the buttons at that time were imported to the US. In the late 1880's the Company started a factory in Muscatine, Iowa for the manufacture of Pearl buttons. Bluementhal continued to Import buttons from around the world into the early 1900's, during World War I imports declined and American Button Manufacturers came into high demand. After WWI Blumenthal continued to import buttons for the US market. In the '40s, Marion Weeber designed realistic buttons for B. Blumenthal. Cards marked Le Chic, La Mode, Streamline, La Petite, Le Bouton and many more are all part of their line. In 1995, B. Blumenthal and the Lansing Button Company were merged into Blumenthal Lansing. See their website here for new buttons that look old. |
